Voice, music & audio

Make speech intelligible and use sound to support your message.

Practical guideEnglish

Before you begin

  • Listen to the original recording through headphones before processing.
  • Check that you have the necessary permissions for the music and voices you use.

Step by step

  1. 01

    Clean carefully

Reduce noise that obstructs understanding. Compare with the original regularly: excessive processing can make speech metallic or erase consonants.

  2. 02

    Balance sources

Prioritise speech. Lower music during sentences and check level differences between speakers, takes and transitions.

  3. 03

    Listen on two devices

Test through headphones and a phone speaker. Review the beginning and end for abrupt cuts and unintended silence.

Practical example

Practical example

For a spoken demonstration, start with voice alone. Add music afterwards at the lowest level that still creates the intended mood.

Review checklist

  • Speech is understandable without a large volume increase.
  • Music does not mask words.
  • Clipping and abrupt cuts do not disrupt listening.

Troubleshooting

Speech sounds artificial

Reduce processing and compare the same sentence with the original. Mild noise is preferable to distorted speech.

Sound gradually loses sync

Check whether the original file has the same problem. Record duration, frame rate and audio information for diagnosis.
